UCSC Stem Cell Training Program

Stem Cell Scholar

The UCSC Training Program in Systems Biology of Stem Cells provides predoctoral and postdoctoral students with a solid understanding of the biology of stem cells, the skills to use stem cells in their own research, and the ability to devise and use computational approaches in their stem cell research. Stem cell research at UCSC focuses on the basic biological systems operating in the processes of self-renewal and differentiation of stem cells.

 

Applications are due November 20 for a postdoctoral position starting December 1, 2009.

We now have openings for four predoctoral students and six postdoctoral fellows to receive support as CIRM Scholars to undertake research projects with faculty mentors from UCSC. Scholars also participate in a variety of learning opportunities, including attending and presenting research at a UCSC monthly seminar, a UCSC stem cell journal club, a Bay Area stem cell research group, and an annual retreat. Scholars are encouraged to attend and present their work at a national scientific conference.

This program is made possible by the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), established in early 2005 with the passage of Proposition 71, the California Stem Cell Research and Cures Initiative.
